What type of viruses or infections would cause someone to have a fever for more than 10 days (and counting)? - persistent sore throat chills

I am worried for my friend had a fever during the last 10 days. The symptoms are a low to high fever, chills, headache and slight dizziness.

It is * not * have swollen lymph nodes, sore throat, abdominal pain or rash.

The temperature ranges from 99 to 102.6 on a daily basis. During the daytime temperatures hover around 99 and then like clockwork, they start shivering and shaking about 4 hours and the temperature right back up to about 100.7 to 102.6.

It was in the emergency room and took samples of blood, urine and chest X-rays, which are all rather negative. It is as if, in the DR, which simply just to say the same thing. I try to tell her nerves, it is likely a virus and only needs to reassure the publication of the work. But I fear it may be worse than a virus, such as meningitis or something. Has anyone seen a similar situation? How long can the fever? 2 3 weeks?

Your friend may require that you consult your doctor a doctor specializing in infectious diseases. For example, it can be infected with mycoplasma. Perhaps the doctor may consider blood cultures to identify the pathogen.

A friend of mine had a child with similar symptoms, and it turns out that he had pneumonia. They walked several pediatricians who say the boy is just a virus, and it will pass. Most do not believe it when she explained the symptoms. After several different doctors, finally, a radiograph of the chest and found the infection.

I do not know if I could be the same as it had already carried out a chest x-ray. Persistent with the doctors and tell them you will not leave until you find the cause. Ask them to do all sorts of tests to rule out other things. Its someone you love, and you have the right to be annoying to see what is wrong. His health is not wasting anything, or missed time. I also try to visit different doctors and have done some online research. Surely not appear normal or healthy. Good luck and I hope to improve, too!

Get more than an opinion and not be afraid to ask as many questions as necessary to allay fears. Several times, doctors act as if they had all the answers, but they are wrong, so often they are correct. So my best advice is that many observations are needed to meet with you and anyone you feel uncomfortable, she tried to recover everything is fine! And if you ever had a fever of more than 3 days, you should immediately. I would add: If the same result in the same emergency room and then go bring in another hospital. Believe me when I say that some hospitals, an indication that hospitals may lead to different results are rethinking.

It is fighting against something with certainty, will be treated with antibiotics? If this does not help, then it is probably viral, but unless they do not try it, and it does not hurt when it viral and get to know their infection somewhere, seems to help if antibiotics have long suffered and if it is run will not help. Do you have a family doctor? Emergency room is not the best to go to the disease. And the fever is usually worse at night.

If she had a fever of more than 10 days, then I go to the doctor. Fever, regularly, should not be so long. (Approx. 3-4 days) is standard. Note that no doctor with a patient's body as the patient knows, and, yes, something is wrong. Well see.

If this is not the symptoms of colds, flu and sore throat, abdominal pain, etc ... my money would be an infection somewhere. If they are the blood sample, which probably was a (blood culture CBC) test. White blood cells are up again? If so, ask an infection elsewhere.

PS ... It is perfectly normal, is that there is a fever, his temperature rises again at 4pm. Take a look at the source, it will explain why.

Hope this helps.
